How much will solar panels cost to power our home?

Residential Solar Power Question:- I like the idea of going green but it needs to not cost so much green that I am paying it off for 50 years.

Our house is 1400 square foot on the beach home with plenty of sun, so I am not worried about the "do we get enough sun?" question. At the moment we pay about $100 a month on electric.

The questions I have are

• How much will solar panels cost.
• How many solar panels will we need to effectively power our home.
• Can we get any special discounted loans to pay for solar power kits?
• Can I totally disconnect from the grid, saving myself the full $100 a month or will I need it during winter still?
